BLUE AND WHITE TRANSFERWARE/TEAPOTS & COFFEE POTS

Picture

I'm attempting to make the Blue and White Transferware Category easier to use. I have 149 pieces in this category and it takes a long time to load--unless you have DSL or another fast form of Internet access! Please let me know what you think. Teapots and Coffee are some of my favorite forms. It would be fun just to collect them. They are wonderful for display but if you want to use one buy new! Rarely is there a teapot or coffee pot that has not had some damage to the spout, handle or lid. It's the nature of the design. Also, these pots are over 160 years old!

PEARLWARE BLUE TRANSFER COFFEE POT 1820 This 11-1/2" pearlware coffee pot is printed with an English country scene that contains a very high bridge. I have owned a saucer in this pattern for many years, and still cannot discover where or if the bridge exists. I hope someone will know. The pattern is printed twice on the pot, and the border appears on the lid and the handle. There is minor chipping around the spout, an excellent repair to a chip on the edge of the lid, and a 2" line in the pattern around the collar of the pot. Appearance is excellent. I didn't even know there was a repair to the lid until I was photographing the pot for my website! Take a look at all of the photos for the details. The coffee pot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1820.

CLEWS CROWN APPLE TEAPOT BLUE TRANSFER 1825 James & Ralph Clews made beautiful dark blue pottery for the American market. This teapot is one of my favorite pieces. I love the round shape and acorn finial. The print is crisp with lots of contrast. The pattern name is Crown Apple. You can see the apple near the bottom under the feather brackets. Condition is as follows. There are chips on the spout, and the finial has been reglued. There is a tiny chip on the inside rim of the lid which is not seen when the lid is on. Appearance is excellent. More than excellent! Take a look at all of the photos for the details. The teapot was made in Staffordshire around 1825.

04-4196A

BLUE TRANSFERWARE COFFEE POT WITH DEER 1825 can't resist buying pearlware coffee pots even when they are damaged. This small coffe pot--10" to the top of the finial and 8-1/2" from the handle to the spout--has a poorly repaired area on the border of the pot over the deer as well as chips on the collar of the lid which do not show when the lid is on. The good news is the handle, spout and finial are in good to excellent condition and the pot displays well. I have never seen this pattern before. The large deer on one side are most appealing and the tumbled down village on the other side is amusing. The village looks as if it has undergone an earthquake! Take a look at all of the photos to see the details. The ribbing on the spout is quite wonderful. The pot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1825.

03-3951

QUADRUPED VARIATION TRANSFER TEAPOT C 1825 This dark blue pearlware teapot is printed in what is known as a Quadruped variation with a fallow deer and her fawn. The pot is 10" from the handle to the spout, 6-1/2" high, 5" across and it stands on four tiny scrolled feet. Although the appearance of the teapot is excellent, it has been very restored. The lid is the sugar bowl lid and has had restoration to the finial and edges. The base has restoration to a crack under the handle and on one side near the handle. This sounds worse than it looks! The teapot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1825. Take a look at all of the photos to see the details.

CHILD'S TOY TEAPOT SHEET PATTERN 1800 Here is a small--4" high by 5-1/2" handle to spout--blue and white pearlware teapot transfer printed in a sheet pattern that is comprised of tiny stylized tulips, dots and foliage. The teapot is as light as a feather! The teapot is being sold "as is". There are chips to the lid, the spout and the collar of the pot which may be seen in the photos. This sounds awful but appearance is very good. The teapot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1800-1810.

E. WOOD FLOWER BASKET PEARLWARE TEAPOT 1830 A large blue and white pearlware teapot made by Enoch Wood in Staffordshire around 1830. This teapot is most likely the hot water pot from the tea service as it is so large. The pot has an impressed Enoch Wood mark on the bottom. There are chips on the spout and some wear on high points. Appearance is excellent. Take a look at all of the photos to fully appreciate this wonderful teapot.

01-3514

STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE AND WHITE DEER TEAPOT 1830 Another of my many favorite patterns. This pearlware blue and white transferware teapot or hot water pot is printed with a leaping deer and a leaping dog. Some people consider this a hunting scene with the dog terrorizing the deer but I think the two are playing! Don't you see the smile on the face of the deer? The tepot is 11" from handle to spout and 7" high. There is a "Y" shaped crack in the base that extends one inch into the side of the pot. There is also a 1/4" flake to the flange of the pot and some very small chips to the tip of the spout. The lid is perfect. All of the damage sounds awful but appearance is excellent. The color is a rich dark blue with an shimmering glaze. There are no hidden repairs and restorations. The teapot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1825-1830. Look at all of the photos to see the details.

CLEWS CHRISTMAS EVE DK BLUE TEAPOT A/F C1825 A large beautifully printed dark blue pearlware teapot in the Wilkie Series by James and Ralph Clews circa 1825. The title of the pattern is Christmas Eve and the man and woman are pulling the Christmas cracker. The pot is being sold as is so please look at all of the photos. Luckily, this wonderful pot is an excellent shelf piece. This would be a lovely addition to either a teapot or dark blue collection.

STAFFORDSHIRE TEAPOT FRUITS AND FLOWERS 1830 A gorgeous print of lush flowers and fruit in a basket adorn this circa 1830 pearlware teapot. The teapot is being sold as is so look at the pictures carefully. The lid has been in a few pieces and is glued back together. The pot has some damage but displays well on one side. You actually would not know it is damaged as the lid sits low in the pot and one side of the teapot looks mint. This is an opportunity to own a wonderful early dark blue teapot for a reasonable amount!

01-3345

BLUE TRANSFERWARE MILKMAID COFFEE POT C 1825 An elegant 11" pearlware coffee pot with the popular milkmaid pattern that was made in Staffordshire around 1825. If you like cows and rural scenes, you will like this piece! It is beautifully printed with three transfers on the body--one large milkmaid transfer, one smaller milkmaid transfer and the floral border. There are other small and sweet transfers of calves and lambs on the spout. Other than a repair to the tip of the spout and perhaps to the tip of the finial(I'm not sure), condition is excellent.

97-1470

Unusual Coffee Pot The 11-1/2" pearlware coffee pot has a most unusual design. It has mermen with wings, otters, swans, and Pegasus who is printed under the spout. I don't know what the symbolism means but it is interesting! There is a crack in the lid which doesn't show when the lid is on the pot and a possible repair to the tip of the spout. This sounds terrible but the coffee pot shows extremely well. The age of this Staffordshire piece is around 1825.
