BLUE AND WHITE TRANSFERWARE/VARIOUS & UNUSUAL SHAPES

Picture

This category contains unusual and various shapes. Footbaths, pepper pots, pickle dishes and bidets don't quite fit into any other category. Their forms are unusual and sometimes rare. Blue and white was printed on useful as well as decorative items. I use an old blue printed toilet to which I have added a glass top as an end table.

SPODE DOG DISH FLORAL PATTERN 1833-47 This blue transferware dog dish was made by Copeland & Garrett, Late Spode (1833-1847). It is 7" long, 5-1/2" wide and 3" high. There is a printed mark on the bottom of the bowl. It is the perfect size for a small dog. The lovely floral pattern is printed in medium to dark blue. There is a 3/4" chip on one foot. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs. It is amazing there is no other damage. Dogs are not always so gentle with their bowls! Appearance of this rarity is excellent. Take a look at the photos for the details. The last photo shows my cat, Mykonos, eating out of the bowl. He doesn't know it is a dog bowl, and he will eat his food out of anything!

07-4996

BLUE TRANSFER FOOTBATH JUG CHINTZ PATTERN This huge jug is 17" to the top of the handle and 16" from the handle to the spout! It is printed in light blue with a chintz or sheet pattern comprised of tiny flowers and leaves against a dotted background. The handle and lug handle (to help you hold this heavy jug)are beautifully molded. If you are looking for a rare and stunning item, this is the piece for you! Although appearance is excellent, there is damage. There are repairs to three places on the base of the jug. The color is not a perfect match. There is wear on both handles, but they have never been off. A tight hairline on the inside of the jug does not go through to the outside. Actually, the jug is in rather good shape! Take a look at the photos for the details. The jug was probably made in Staffordshire around 1840. It was made as a companion to a footbath. Imagine the weight when full of water!

It might have been to a hairline which was then oversprayed. The overspray has darkened slightly. There has been no repainting. Appearance is actually quite good.
