It is part of a large series where each size has a different pattern. Each piece is marked with the pattern name on the back. This one is "Knighthood Confer'd (sic) on Don Quixote". 07-5070
DON QUIXOTE BLUE TRANSFER SOUP 1825 This 8-3/4" soup bowl is printed in dark blue with excellent contrast. It is possible that it was made in Staffordshire by Davenport. The soup is part of a large series that depicts a different scene on every size and shape from Cervantes book "Don Quixote". Printed on the back is the pattern name, "Don Quixote and Sancho Panza". Other than a bit of wear on the footrim, condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. Take a look at the photos for the details.

Click for more detail...
07-5035
BLUE TRANSFER BOTANICAL PLATE 1825 This 8" pearlware soup bowl is printed in medium to dark blue with a lovely botanical sheet pattern. The flowers are sometimes referred to as sweetpeas, but they don't look like the sweetpeas in my garden! These are however, stylized flowers, so perhaps they are sweetpeas. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. The soup was probably made in Staffordshire around 1825.

07-5034
BEWICK STAG BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATE 1820 This 9-1/2" pearlware plate is printed in blue with the pattern known as Bewick Stag. The pattern is copied from the work of Thomas Bewick. The stag or red deer stands in the foreground, while three other deer are in the background. The border is unusual, as it comprises vignettes of animals. Some of these vignettes are also copied from the work of Bewick. Condition of the plate is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The plate was probably made in Staffordshire around 1820. If you are looking for a gorgeous animal print on blue pottery, this is the plate for you!

07-4999
PEARLWARE BLUE TRANSFER LOVERS PLATE 1825 I rarely say a pattern is unique, but this pearlware 10" plate's pattern is probably one of a kind. There are initials in the center of the plate with two hearts on either side connected by an arrow (Cupid's). My educated guess is that the plate was either an engagement gift or wedding present. The central initials are surrounded by bouquets of flowers, which are also surrounded by a floral border. Take a look at the photos for the details. Condition is excellent. If you are looking for an unusual plate for your collection, this is the one for you!

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 07-4997: PROGRESS OF THE LOAF SET OF FOUR PLATES 1835
Click for more detail...
07-4997
PROGRESS OF THE LOAF SET OF FOUR PLATES 1835 Usually found on children’s wares, this pattern is printed in blue on four 9-1/4" plates. The border of the plates is the familiar "Canova" border of the pattern made by Thomas Mayer (c. 1826-1838). The mark on the back is, indeed, "Canova". The mystery is the designation of the two letters on the back of each plate. They appear to be a J and a T. "The Progress of the Quartern Loaf" is from a poem written by Mary Belson Elliot in 1820. The poems and scenes on the plates include The Thrasher, The Reaper, The Miller and The Baker. Eliot's poems include The Ploughman and The Sower. Condition of all four plates is excellent. I only have space for eight photos, so please ask for more photos if you would like more details.

Click for more detail...
07-4987
BLUE TRANSFER PLATE WITH SPHINX C 1820 This 8-1/2" pearlware plate is printed in medium to dark blue with a pattern that includes a greek key and a sphinx! The background looks like vermicelli. The plate has no footrim and the edge is painted with ochre enamel. Thus, the plate probably dates from the early 1820s. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or restoration (although there is some flaking to the ochre paint). I have two of these plates in stock. Take a look at the photos for the details.

07-4984
HENSHALL BLUE TRANSFERWARE SOUP ST. ALBANS Made around 1820 by Henshall & Co, this 9-1/2" pearlware soup is printed in a charming transitional pattern known as St. Albans. The pattern is transitional because of the juxtaposition of the Chinoiserie trees in the foreground and English castles and houses in the background. The border contains foliage and houses. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or restoration. Take a look at the photos for details of this unusual pattern.

BLUE TRANSFERWARE FLORAL PATTERN PLATE 1825 This 8-1/2" pearlware plate is known as Sweetpea, but I am not sure what these flowers are! The plate is printed in dark blue with excellent contrast. Other than minor scratches, from use, that appear when tilted in the light, condition is excellent. Take a look at the photos for the details.
