07-4993

WEDGWOOD HIBISCUS BLUE TRANSFERWARE JUG 1820 This 4-3/4" high by 5" handle to spout pearlware jug is printed in medium and dark blue with the Wedgwood pattern, Hibiscus. Wedgwood made lovely botanical blue and white patterns in the early 19th century. There is a soup bowl in this pattern in this catalog. Other than a "Y" shaped line on the bottom, that doesn't show on the interior of the jug, condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. The jug is impressed "Wedgwood" on the bottom. It was probably made around 1820. Take a look at the photos for the details.

07-4987

BLUE TRANSFER PLATE WITH SPHINX C 1820 This 8-1/2" pearlware plate is printed in medium to dark blue with a pattern that includes a greek key and a sphinx! The background looks like vermicelli. The plate has no footrim and the edge is painted with ochre enamel. Thus, the plate probably dates from the early 1820s. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or restoration (although there is some flaking to the ochre paint). I have two of these plates in stock. Take a look at the photos for the details.

HENSHALL BLUE TRANSFERWARE SOUP ST. ALBANS Made around 1820 by Henshall & Co, this 9-1/2" pearlware soup is printed in a charming transitional pattern known as St. Albans. The pattern is transitional because of the juxtaposition of the Chinoiserie trees in the foreground and English castles and houses in the background. The border contains foliage and houses. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or restoration. Take a look at the photos for details of this unusual pattern.

RIDGWAY BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATTER BIRDS This lovely pearlware 16-1/2" by 13-1/2" platter is printed in medium and light blue with a pattern entitled Etruscan Shield. I'm not sure what the shield is all about, but things Etruscan were all the rage in the 1830s. The birds are in a shield-like cartouche interspersed with roses against a milles fleurs background. The border has feather-like flourishes and more flowers. This is a gorgeous pattern! The edges of the platter are gently scalloped. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. Condition of the platter is excellent. The platter was made in Staffordshire around 1835.
