SPODE BOTANICAL GREEN TRANSFERWARE DISH 1835 The dark green beautifully printed 10-1/2" by 8" dish was made by Copeland & Garrett, Late Spode in Staffordshire around 1835. The parttern is not common. I have only seen two pieces in this series and they are both in this catalog. This pearlware dish is entitled "Nasturtian" which is printed on the back. The many lobed form is very pleasing. There are two tiny nicks under the rim which are not visible from the front. Appearance is excellent. I'd love to see more pieces in this series. If you like botanicals, this is the one for you! Take a look at all of the photos for the details.

SPODE AESOPS FABLES GREEN TRANSFER PL 1830 This green pearlware plate is from another of my favorite series. It is from the Aesops Fables Series that was made by Spode--there is an impressed mark--in about 1832. Each size and shape has a print of a different fable and this one entitled on the back is "The Fox and the Lion". The lion is quite handsome but he looks a bit annoyed. The fox looks as if he has "outfoxed" the lion! Oh well. Take a look at the border which includes fox heads coming out of flowers as well as the usual flowers. Condition is excellent.
