Circa: 1820 Manufacturer: Spode
A pearlware washbowl in the Chinese Trophies pattern made by Spode in Staffordshire around 1820. The bowl is 14" in diameter and 5" high. It is printed in blue and painted in a yellow/orange under the glaze. It is magnificent. However, it was smashed in shipping--I think it was used as a football! The pieces were glued and stabilzed but the damage shows. I have been using the bowl as a center piece and to hold potato chips or fruit. This is a rare item that can be had for a reasonable price. |
