A wonderful play on the expression "A pretty kettle of fish"! The dogs have been fighting and have knocked over a kettle of fish. Two of the dogs are scalded. And, both we and the dogs realize that their owners will be angry. This is an excellent scene from Victorian country life which will appeal to those of you who like animals and those of you who enjoy Victorian interiors. The condition of the face of the lid appears excellent. There is a chip under the rim and three small chip on the rim where the lid would fit in the pot. The lid dates from about 1860.
