| Another of my many favorite patterns. This pearlware blue and white transferware teapot or hot water pot is printed with a leaping deer and a leaping dog. Some people consider this a hunting scene with the dog terrorizing the deer but I think the two are playing! Don't you see the smile on the face of the deer? The tepot is 11" from handle to spout and 7" high. There is a "Y" shaped crack in the base that extends one inch into the side of the pot. There is also a 1/4" flake to the flange of the pot and some very small chips to the tip of the spout. The lid is perfect. All of the damage sounds awful but appearance is excellent. The color is a rich dark blue with an shimmering glaze. There are no hidden repairs and restorations. The teapot was probably made in Staffordshire around 1825-1830. Look at all of the photos to see the details. |
