| This pearlware wash pitcher and bowl were made by the Riley factory in Staffordshire around 1825. The pattern is known as "Feeding Chickens" and it is one of those wonderful scenes of country life in early 19th century England. The bowl is 13-1/2" in diameter and 6" high. There is a 1-1/2" chip on the rim that has been glued back on. It looks fine from the front but is rather visible from the back. There is also a chip on the footrim. You can see the chips in the photos. There is also a yellowish stain in the bowl that was done in the firing. The jug is 11" to the top of the handle and 9" from the spout to the handle. Condition is excellent. Appearance of both pieces is superb. If you like country charm, this is the item for you! |
