An 7" pearlware jug printed in purple with the young Victoria and Albert. The couple are in a reserve surrounded by blue which is decorated with copper lustre. The rim, handle and beautifully molded spout are decorated with pink lustre. The handle is a confection of swirls and spurs. The jug has restoration to the rim but it is so well done I can't remember where it is! There is wear to the pink lustre on the rim and spout. Appearance is excellent. The piece was probably made in Staffordshire around 1840 probably to commemorate the marriage of Victoria and Albert. |
