Circa: 1835 Manufacturer: Bemjamin Adams
This beautifully molded pearlware jug is 9" high to the top of the handle, 9-1/2" from the handle to the spout and 5" across. It is printed in a rich magenta purple with a scene know as "Harvest". The charming bucolic scene shows men and women harvesting hay. There are bunches of flowers around the rim, under the spout, on the handle and inside the jug. There is a lovely leaf like detail printed on the base. The jug appears perfect but inside one can see four hairline cracks that go through to the front but can barely be seen. The cracks have been stabilized so that the jug is sound. The jug was made in Staffordshire by the Adams Factory in the 1830's. Take a look at all five of the photos to see the details of the pattern. If you like English country scenes, this is the piece for you! |
