What is a bourdaloue? It is a lady's urinal. The name derives from a minister named Bourdaloue who gave wonderful but long sermons. Thus the need for a Bourdaloue! This one is printed with the Taj Mahal in a series known for its Indian views. The so-called parrot border can be seen on the inside of the rim. The bourdaloue is restored. Its appearance is very good. This is a rare and delightful ite. Most people as me if it's a gravy boat. Whatever! It was probably made in Staffordshire around 1820. |
