This 10-1/4" plate is from a series called "Anglais" which is comprised of English country scenes. This one has a castle and cow scene contained in a twig frame border with a hunting scene in a telescope-like circle to the side. Roses and butterflies surround the scenes right to the edge of the plate. How more Aesthetic Movement can the design get! The brown transer is a rich chocolate against a cream ground. Condition is excellent. The plate was probably made in Staffordshire around 1880.
