This jug has everything! It is 7" to the top of the handle, 7" from the handle to the spout and 3-1/2" in diameter. The jug is transfer printed in black with flowers, leaves and what look like either shell or butterflies! The pattern is brightly clobbered with blue, pink, yellow and green enamels. The best part is the spout which is a molded lion head that the painter decided to paint in real lion colors. His mane and face are a mustard yellow with black highlights and his eyes and nose are also black. This is most charming--to me. The jug was probably made in Staffordshire around 1840-1850. Condition is excellent. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. |
