Large mugs in early transferware are not common. This 5-1'4" high by 4-1/2" wide by 6" to the handle pearlware mug is printed in medium to very dark blue in a Chinoiserie pattern that looks familiar but I hope someone can identify it for me. In a reserve opposite the handle there are four men in Middle Eastern garb. The reserve is surrounded by stylized leaves and flowers that look very modern. There is a border design of "Vs" and "1s" inside the mug. There is an ochre line around the rim. The mug is being sold "as Is". There are chips on the base rim which cannot be seen when the mug is standing. There is also a large stabilized "Y' shaped crack that runs from the rim to the bottom of the mug. Luckily, most of it is hidden in the pattern. The rest of the mug is in good condition. Appearance, despite the damage, is excellent. Take a look at all of the photos to see the details. |
