This pearlware teapot is printed in either light red or pink. The Romantic Staffordshire pattern is complemented by the ruffled shape of the pot. Even the handle is frilled! There is a meandering hairline crack in the base of the pot that extends briefly into the body. It is barely visible unless you look in the pot. There is also a minor nick on the spout. There are no other cracks, chips or restoration. The lid is perfect and has the steam hole. Appearance is excellent. The teapot was probably made around 1835. Thanks to Laura Shannon, I now know the pattern name is Japonica. It was made by John Ridgway. |
