Plate, 6 inches. This child's plate is printed in red with a charming design of a child riding on a dog! Dogs big enough for children to ride or pull children in carts were popular in the 19th century; dogs such as St. Bernards and Newfoundlands. The title is "The Young Cavalier". It was made in Staffordshire around 1835-1840. If you like wonderful children's plates, this is the one for you! Condition is excellent.
