Made by Thomas Keeling in Staffordshire around 1820, this huge 20" by 17" platter is beautifully printed in a pattern entitled "Views in Mesopotamia". Each size in the series has a different central view. The center is fairly small which leaves room for an inner border of large flowers. There is also an outer border of birds and flowers as well as a molded edge which contains shells. This is an amazing platter! There is a tiny nick in the molding at about 12 o'clock as well as a knife mark in the center which is mainly hidden by the pattern. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. |
