This dark brown pearlware jug is 8" to the top of the handle. It is printed in a pattern filled with details that I hope will help with the discovery of the name of the pattern. There is statue of, perhaps, Neptune standing on a plinth near a fountain as well as a rather imposing gate and a palm tree. The handle is unusual. It ends in a face and beard where it joins the rim of the jug. Its back is printed with scales. Take a look at all of the photos and please help me with identification! Other than a chip on the edge of the base, condition is excellent. The jug was probably made in Staffordshire around 1835. |
