James & Ralph Clews made beautiful dark blue pottery for the American market. This teapot is one of my favorite pieces. I love the round shape and acorn finial. The print is crisp with lots of contrast. The pattern name is Crown Apple. You can see the apple near the bottom under the feather brackets. Condition is as follows. There are chips on the spout, and the finial has been reglued. There is a tiny chip on the inside rim of the lid which is not seen when the lid is on. Appearance is excellent. More than excellent! Take a look at all of the photos for the details. The teapot was made in Staffordshire around 1825. |
