This pearlware 11" by 8-1/2" platter was made by Henshall & Co. in Staffordshire around 1820-1825. It is printed in dark blue with lots of contrast with an English country scene complete with cows. Thanks for Terry Sheppard, the view has been identified as Abington Abbey, Northamptonshire. Terry adds that the house was never an abbey, but the country home of Shakespeare's granddaughter, Elizabeth. Condition is excellent. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. I have two other platters from this series in this catalogue. |
