This pearlware dark blue cup and saucer was made by James & Ralph Clews in Staffordshire around 1825. The pattern of a young girl holding a bouquet of flowers is quite uncommon. Although the color is dark blue, there is lots of contrast in the print. There are a few little bubbles in-the-making on the face of the saucer as well as a line on the back that doesn't go through to the front. The cup has an in-the-making spot near the bottom rim where it stuck to something in the kiln. Appearance is excellent, and there are no chips, cracks or repairs. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. |
