This lovely blue transferware pearlware 16-1/2" by 13" platter was made by Davenport in Staffordshire around 1820. It is printed in soft blue with an unknown to me Chinoiserie scene. Other than a 2" tight hairline at 7 o'clock, that is mostly visible on the back, and a chip in the foliage under the flower at 12 o'clock, condition is excellent. It is difficult to see either flae. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. The back has an impressed Davenport mark. Thanks to Dora Landey and Loren Zeller, I now know that the pattern name is "View of the Imperial Park at Gehol". This is an actual view rather than an imaginary one. |
