The style of this 7" porcelain jug is known as Chelsea. It is decorated with lilac-purple flowers and leaves, as well as beads around the base. The handle and spout are outlined in black. The name, "Lenis, Taylor" and the date, "1828" are also painted in black. There is an extraordinary flourish under the date. It is possible that the jug was given as a wedding present.
