This 16" by 13" teal green platter was made by John Wedge Wood in Staffordshire around 1835-40. The pattern name is "Cashmere". John's father, whose last name was Wood, hoping to cash in on the famous Wedgwood name, named his son John Wedge! The platter has a wonderful fabric-like border of alternating patterns that surround the bird in the center. There is a small repair at 12 o'clock. It is excellently done. There is also a bit of wear to the high points on the inner rim and three prominent stilt marks. Appearance is excellent. Take a look at all of the photos for the details. |
