Manufacturer: Robinson, Wood & Brownfield This 17-1/4" by 14" blue transferware platter is printed in medium blue with the pattern "Zoological". The series was made to commemorate the opening of the London Zoological Gardens in 1828. Each size and shape depicts a different zoo scene. It would be fun to collect them all! Condition is excellent, although there is a small pit (in the making) on the border. The lions have friendly, human-like faces. I hope the man isn't trying to feed them. If you like animal prints or lions, this is the platter for you. It was made by Robinson, Wood & Brownfield in Staffordshire around 1835.
