This Swansea (Wales) cow creamer is unusual as it is printed rather than painted. It was made in the Swansea factory, Baker, Bevins & Irwin, around 1830. It stands 5.5 inches to the top of the tail and 7 inches from the tail to the nose. The pattern is a charming rural print complete with bridge, cottage, people and dovecote. The lid is original. The tail has been glued back on and there is a hairline in the body from the bottom of the tail to the thigh. The ends of the horns are chipped. That said, the creamer displays beautifully. If you want a rare cow creamer or black tranferware item, this is the one for you! |
