Found on a 5 inch cup plate, this pattern is part of a series that depicts wild animals in an Indian setting. Actually, the India part is quite fanciful! The animal in the center of the plate appears to be a mongoose. I have five more of these plates. Condition of this plate is excellent. I have another item in this series in the catalog; a beaver undertray. Although this plate is not marked, it is from the "Indian Scenery" series made by William Hackwood around 1835. |
