Circa: 1825
Manufacturer: Maker Unknown

Saucer 5.5 inches and Tea Cup, 2.25 inches high by 3 inches in diameter. The pattern shows what is known as the Cadmus sailboat and the Robert Fulton steamboat. It depicts in black transfer the ship Cadmus which brought La Fayette to America in 1824, where he was celebrated as a hero of the American Revolution. Robert Fulton invented the first functional steam powered boat. The seemingly disparate ships are both used as symbols of the young United States, along with the American eagle which stands on a starry bough. The saucer shows both ships together. The cup has one view on each side. The transfer, printed on porcelain, is surrounded by pink lustre trim. Other than staining to the handle of the cup, condition is excellent. Please look at all of the photos for the details.
