MASON'S CAMBRIAN ROSE PLATE Plate, 7.75 inches. The pattern is known as Cambrian Rose or Roses. It was made by Masons around 1820. It is printed in blue and colored over the glaze in green, pink, orange, and yellow. It is impressed with the maker's name on the back (difficult to see in the photo). Condition is excellent. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.

ENOCH WOOD SPORTING SERIES ZEBRA PLATE, 1825 Plate, 8.25 inches. The pattern is from Enoch Wood's popular Sporting Series. Nearly every size and shape in this series has a different center animal scene. Here is a large zebra, two running zebras and an ostrich. There is a bit of wear in the center, a line in the border, and a chip to the rear. The plate displays well.

ENOCH WOOD SPORTING SERIES CUP PLATE TWO DOGS Cup Plate, 4.5 inches. This pattern is part of a large dinner service that has a different center pattern on nearly each size and shape. The cup plate features two hound dogs. It is one of the rarer patterns. The source print is from an engraving(1802)by J. Scott after S. Gilpin, R.A. ((1733-1807). The sketch was made in 1772, and later it was used as an illustration for Reverend W.B. Daniel's "Rural Sports" (1801). Juno is the white dog and Pluto is the black dog. The plate is impressed on the back with the maker's mark. Condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or repairs.

Here is Bewick's peacock and turkey. Each size and shape in the series (mostly) has different birds in the center. This was a popular series, and it was made by at least three different factories. The pattern here was made by Andrew Stevenson(1816-1830) in Staffordshire around 1820.

BLUE TRANSFERWARE HUNTERS & DOGS PLATE 1825 Plate, 10.25 inches. Shown here is a beautifully printed dark blue transferware plate with lots of contrast. The English rural scene is comprised of hunters and dogs who are probably standing before a hunting lodge. The surrounding border contains roses, morning glories and swags of wheat. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The plate was probably made in Staffordshire in 1825.

It includes peasants and sheep sheltered under a large English oak. The border is filled with fruit and flowers. The plate was made by Ralph Hall (1822-1849) in Staffordshire around 1825. Other than a tiny bit of wear seen when tilted in the light, condition is excellent.

It is printed in blue and clobbered over the glaze in red, purple, yellow and green. The flower arrangement in the center is surrounded by a border of roses and butterflies. There is a molded floral border. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. I have four smaller plates in this pattern for sale.

The charming blue printed pattern of sleeping boy and hovering dog is surrounded by a molded floral border painted over the glaze in bright colors. It is aptly titled "The Sentinel", as the dog is guarding the sleeping boy. Condition of the plate is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The plate is impressed with the maker's mark for Podmore, Walker & Co. It was made in Staffordshire around 1835-1845.

The blues range from medium to dark. Condition is excellent. The brown spot near the border at the bottom right was done in the making. It is under the glaze. The plate was made by James and Ralph Clews in Staffordshire around 1830.
